If you’re looking for fantasy romance books with spice then A Kingdom of Stars and Shadows is one you’ll want to check out!
Synopsis
In this story, we’re following a girl named Adara who is powerful and the evidence of that power comes through her glowing freckles on her face and back. They call people like her Starblessed. Because of her strength, she was betrothed to the prince of Citali. She doesn’t like having an arranged marriage but when the time comes she’s escorted to the castle where she’ll prepare to be Queen.
She feels out of place and uncomfortable during her stay, but the only one who makes her feel safe is the prince’s brother Evren. Every time they’re close the sexual tension is unbearable but they both understand that she is not meant for him. One day they find that enemy is lurking within the kingdom. Evren is ordered to take Adara to a safe place until the threat is over, but on the way there she finds not everything is as it seems.
My Thoughts
I recently finished the third book so here’s how I feel so far. At first, things were predictable until the twist at the end of the first book, so that took the plot to another level. The second book to me was like a transition book where things are set in place for the big finale so it wasn’t too exciting.
By the last book I found myself skimming through most of it sadly. I did want to know what happens but I felt that there was a lot of filler so I knew that I wasn’t missing important information. Overall it wasn’t a bad series. I think it can be good for those that are getting into fantasy romance.
I could feel the chemistry between Adara and Evren so anytime they were together it was a good time. For some reason, I really like how Evren’s fingertips are black. I think it gives him a little edge and it shows how powerful and dark he is .
Snippet
“Every thought I have of you is treasonous, the way my hands ache to touch you, deceitful. Even my dreams make me a traitor of my own kingdom.”
“Then stop,” I whispered as I straightened my shoulders.
“That’s the thing princess,” he whispered before his lips pressed against my bare shoulder, ” I don’t want to.”
