Looking for some more spicy books to add to your TBR?? Then this is a series you won’t regret starting!
Synopsis
In this story, we follow a girl named Poppy, also known as the Maiden. Her parents died protecting her from the Craven- bloodthirsty monsters sent by the Dark One. Since then she has become the Queen’s favorite because she believes the gods protected Poppy. As the maiden, she needs to follow strict rules which Poppy is not a fan of, but it’s all to prepare her for her nineteenth birthday when she will Ascend. This means she will be given to the Gods. Poppy’s not even sure she wants to Ascend, but she believes it is inevitable. She just wants to be free and live her own life since she can take care of herself.
There’s been an ongoing threat to the kingdom as the Dark One tries to kidnap Poppy. To keep her safe until the Ascension, the Queen orders Poppy’s guards to take her to the capital where she will be safe. During the journey, Poppy has experiences that make her question her beliefs and she falls in love with someone she has always hated.
My thoughts
I personally enjoyed reading this series! I could not put it down for one second so I read each book back to back with no breaks. I like how we get to learn the truth as Poppy does and the plot just keeps unraveling with each book and you realize it’s more complex than you think.
This is an enemies-to-lovers story that is of course very smutty. I believe the first three books are from Poppy’s POV but The War of Two Queens is dual POV.
Besides the smut, there are many characters you come to care about. There are Atlantians, vamprys, wolven, gods, dragons, and probably more to come. The series is unfinished, it looks like two more spicy books are coming out, but I’m not sure when. Check out my Blood and Ash fan art post to see what the characters look like as you read! ☺️
Snippet
I placed my hand in his and stated what I felt he needed to be reminded of. “I tried to kill you.”
“I know.” He pulled me up to my feet. “I can’t really blame you.” I stared, dumbfounded as he swopped down, tugging up my breaches as he rose. “You don’t?”
“No. I lied to you. I betrayed you and played a role in the deaths of people you love,” he said, listing the reasons as if it were a shopping list. “I’m surprised that was the first time you tried.”
