Need a fantasy romance series to get your teeth into? Well, let me tell you that this is not a series you want to sleep on!
Synopsis
The world is about to end because God has found that humans are too evil, and there is no chance of saving them. The four horsemen come to earth one at a time to fulfill their destructive purpose. But, it’s not as easy as you’d think. While the horsemen are convinced that humans are corrupt, there is a woman for each of them that will have them questioning their very existence. Each of their stories is different, but one by one their beliefs are challenged, and they will have a choice to make before every human is wiped out from the earth.
My Thoughts
Ohh my gosh where do I start? As I was reading, I found myself ranking which horsemen I liked the most and it was constantly updating 😆
War and Death are my top two for sure, I don’t think I can choose which because both books had me crying in the end. Like actual tears! Famine would be my third and Pestilence the fourth.
I think it’s because War and Death’s stories are intense and I got so invested in them. But I like Famine’s bad boy personality and I admire Pestilence for being the first of his brothers to surrender. I’m sure it was tough to let go of his purpose without an example.
Pestilence is the only book that I think is told only from the woman’s POV. But the rest have a small section where it’s told from the horsemen’s point of view. Each story is unique and well-told, but the only annoying thing was that the women say “what are you doing?” several times.
I understand the horsemen are scary and the women will question anything they do, but maybe the question could’ve been changed a bit, I don’t know. Other than that, I enjoyed getting to know these characters and am satisfied with how the series ends. ☺️
Snippet
“When you ignore me, I burn with restlessness; it feels as though the sun has turned its back on the world. And when you smile at me-when you gaze at me like you can see my soul-I feel…I feel like I am lit on fire, like you have been called by God to raze my world.”
-Laura thalassa (Pestilence)
