Need a dark romance series? Well, let me tell you these are pretty dark and ruthless! This is a unique series because the books are stand alones. They contain mature and graphic content, and the author gives a trigger warning list before you start.
Hooked Synopsis
Hooked is about a girl named Wendy who just wants to have a normal happy family. Her mom has passed away and her dad Peter is never home. It’s just her and her brother Jon. One night Wendy and her friends use fake IDs to get into a bar, but they get caught. A man who goes by Hook is made aware of the situation and he looks at the security cameras to check it out.
Wendy catches his eye and he tells the bouncer to let them in. They run into each other as she’s going to the bathroom and he finds out she’s Peter’s daughter. Hook hates Peter and gets off on thinking about how he can take advantage of Wendy to get to her dad.
Hook begins to take Wendy out and his plan to get her into him seems to be working, but he may be catching feelings too. Soon, Hook finds his plan isn’t as easy as he thought, and Wendy discovers that almost everything she knew about her family is a lie.
Snippet
Clicking out of the articles, I pull up the security feed, satisfaction burrowing in my chest as I see her sipping champagne and trying to act as though she belongs. She doesn’t..Her inncocence shines like a beacon- a sparkling jewel in the midst of trash- bait for my darkness to come and smother it whole.

Scarred Synopsis
This story is about a girl named Sara who has a secret mission to take the crown. Her family has been strategically arranging a marriage between her and King Michael so that their family name can rule again and avenge her father. The time has come to meet the King and she arrives at the kingdom with her best friend.
When she gets there she meets Michael right away, but at the corner of her eye she sees his brother, Tristan who is “hauntingly beautiful.” While she’s at the castle, she hears about a group called the rebels after an incident at a ball. She becomes curious since no one dares to speak of them. No one except for Tristan.
As she learns about the rebel king’s plans, she finds they interfere with her own, and she can’t have that. Even if the king is someone she’s come to love.
Snippet
Jumping to my feet, I turn and flee, adrenaline pumping like acid through my muscles as I run back the way I came, promising my father’s ghost I won’t forget why I came. Not again. I will eradicate the Faasa family and kill the rebel king…no matter how much it may break me.

Wretched Synopsis

Snippet
My grip on her hands tighten, and I know- I know– that I should pull away. That after this is over, I’ll spend hours hating myself for falling for someone I’m supposed to stand against.
But when it comes to Eveline Westerly, I’m a fucking fool.

My thoughts
These are pretty good, if you could only read one then I would pick Scarred. It is a little less dark than Hooked and Wretched and I enjoy the chemistry between the couple in Scarred more. But Hooked really keeps you on your toes especially near the end when you find out what’s really going on.
Both men in each book are kind of crazy 😆 . The author really knows how to write about men who are borderline evil, but they have that soft side that you can’t resist! They enjoy torturing and punishing, but love is something they both don’t see coming and it changes them a bit.
This is adult romance for sure. I personally like the intimate scenes in Scarred and of course I like that these are dual POV.
I read Wretched and this one is a little different from the other two books because the girl is the evil one. The plot was predictable, but it stilled pulled on my heart strings because Nick’s in a high-stake situation, but his feelings conflict with his mission and you really feel that. So in the end I was a little emotional, but even now I still think Scarred is my favorite out of the three. 😊
