Need a fantasy romance book with strong female leads? Well, you’ve found one! The third book has just been released, so you can finish this series in one go.
Synopsis
This series is about a girl named Rowan who lives in the human world as an ordinary college student. She may seem normal on the outside, but she has a dark past that reminds her that she’s alone. All that she remembers is that a demon killed her mother. A demon with a 5 pointed star on its forehead. On Rowan’s birthday, her best friend Shai tells her about the hot demons she’s seen while at university, and Orion, the Lord of Chaos, is one of them.
They’re at the bar and lo and behold, The Lord of Chaos turns up. What’s interesting is that he recognizes Rowan and refers to her as Mortana. And apparently, Mortana is not someone he’s fond of! He takes her away to a dungeon and plans on killing her as she tries her hardest to convince him that he has the wrong girl.
Although she looks exactly like the woman Orion remembers, he finds that Rowan is just human. Rowan decides to use this to her advantage and agrees to help Orion with his plans if he helps her find her mother’s killer. Through this journey, Rowans learns more about her past while falling in love with her worst enemy!
My thoughts
I enjoyed the first two books because of the tension between the main characters and I liked how the plot gets complex as the story continues. The first book is told from Rowan’s perspective but the second book is dual POV which I always love! I need to know what the guy’s thinking too, especially Orion!
Their relationship is kind of a slow burn because they go from a friendship, to enemies, to still enemies but there are feelings involved now haha. So there are some internal conflicts towards falling for each other and so whenever they have their moments I eat it up!
I didn’t like the third book as much unfortunately. I wish there was a chapter with Shai’s POV since there are missing pieces to the story. The ending also left me with wanting more and it ended in away that suggests there could be another book but I was ready for their story to be completed.
Snippet
“Except you sense it, too. No mortal man has ever sexually satisfied you… you said I’m the only man you’d ever suspected was up to the task.” “And I do think you’re right about that Rowan.”
A forbidden heat shivered through my body, and my thighs clenched under my bathrobe. Oh, fuck. As long as I was near Orion, I was in trouble.
