Craving a contemporary romance book that will give you all the feels? You might like this one!
Synopsis
This story is dual POV, so we’re following Mason and Mackenzie. They are childhood best friends that live together along with Mason’s brother. One day Mason receives a job offer that is miles away, and it is an opportunity he does not want to miss however, he cannot stand to be leaving Mackenzie.
The thing is, they both have feelings for each other but they’ve never confessed it and don’t really plan to until one day they play drunk truth or dare. Mason is dared to kiss Mackenzie and he decides to go for it. Their kiss opens the door for them to experience what they’ve always wanted but Mackenzie’s traumatic past tries to get in the way of a great relationship she could have with Mason.
My thoughts
This book was an easy read for me! Mason is such a good guy and Mackenzie was annoying to me at times. I haven’t gone through what she did but I feel like what happened with her dad shouldn’t affect her so much that she can’t commit to someone. She’s been best friends with Mason for years and knows what kind of person he is so it was weird to me that she would just ignore all that and think he could be like her dad.
I was almost kind of stressed out near the end because something big happens but there were only a few pages left so I was wondering if things were going to be resolved in this book. They were, but it felt kind of rushed so I wish there was a little more time between her going back to Texas and telling Mason the news.
But overall it was a good read and I enjoyed the spicy scenes as well so if you’re into childhood best friends to lovers you’ll love this one!
Snippet
My blood burns hotter, almost flamable, when she graces me with a tiny whimper, something I never thought I would ever be blessed to hear, much less cause.
This…is the best damn thing in the entire fucking world. Better than those waffle sausage sticks. Better than moving to Texas for a once in a lifetime promotion.
Mackenzie’s lips are the sweetest, most alluring thing I’ve experienced. And I want more.
