Soon after she’s seeing roses around her home, she’s getting texts from an unknown number, and she eventually realizes that the man from the book signing is stalking her. She’s freaked out, nervous, and embarrassingly flattered. He’s at her house one day and Adeline has had enough and finally confronts him. Little does she know getting involved with Z will begin one of the toughest seasons of her life.
My thoughts
I didn’t know what true dark romance was until I read this series. It really tested my limits but I’m glad I pulled through because I did enjoy it. There are many, many content warnings so be aware and look through them if you need to. But looking at the story as a whole it is tough but it’s also reality, unfortunately. Through Adeline, we get a glimpse of one of the worse things anyone could experience.
There is a happy ending and there’s smut to die for throughout. Zade may have had a weird way of showing interest in Adeline but hey, it is a fictional story and we learn that he’s actually a good man. So if you’re willing to read about falling in love, going through trauma, and recovering from it, you might enjoy this dark romance with trigger warnings.
“What do you want from me?” I hiss, curling my hands into fists, only to abate the shaking. My whole body has begun to vibrate from anger and fear. But also from something else. Something so disturbing, I refuse to put a name on it.
He doesn’t answer, but he does grin-a slow, sinful twist of his lips that sends sparks skittering down my spine.
With deliberation, his tongue darts out and licks his bottom lip. My eyes zero in on the movement. The act primal. Animalistic. And fucking terrifying.
