The Bridge Kingdom series is perfect for those who are looking for a real enemies-to-lovers story. And I mean the main characters do not give in to each other until the very, very last minute!
Synopsis
To keep the peace between the kingdoms, an agreement was made between the king of Madridrina and the king of Ithicana to arrange a marriage between their children. Many years passed and after the deaths of the Ithicanian rulers their son, Aren, sent word to Maridrina to bring the princess he would wed. Lara was one of thirteen sisters who sacrificed herself to be the one to go to Ithicana.
On her way to the kingdom, she is briefed on the plan to take down Ithicana after she finds the secrets to their most valuable asset, the bridge. Many resources from other kingdoms are traded through this bridge, and the king of Maridrina wants to take control of it. As soon as Lara arrives in Ithicana she marries Aren and then begins her journey of uncovering their secrets.
Aren thinks of Lara as a beautiful but helpless woman, and little does he know Lara knows how to take care of her enemies. As time goes on she comes to fall for Ithicana and their king. Lara has to decide whether to betray her father or her new kingdom.
My Thoughts
This series literally took me on a journey. I haven’t read the third book yet, but in my opinion, the first two were beautifully written. Seeing Lara and Auren super cautious to trust each other made me invested in them and I think their reactions to each other were realistic.
It’s not overly smutty so if you’re not a fan of spice you’ll enjoy it! If I had to say anything about the second book is that I wasn’t really fond of how it ended. I wish the story carried on a bit more or include an epilogue.
Other than that, I would recommend this series, it was super adventurous!
Snippet
Lara opened her eyes in time to watch him remove his towel from his waist and toss it on a rock, his feet smacking against the path as he strode naked back to his room.
Biting the insides of her cheeks, Lara struggled to contain her grin. This man might be a hunter. But he was mistaken if he believed she was prey.
